Working here
A small team, a platform a lot of people depend on.
Auction-Experts is a compact international team in Amsterdam. The software we write runs live auctions across Europe, which makes the work unusually direct: you can watch what you built decide a sale on a Thursday evening.
What the work is like
The platform has been in continuous development for twenty-seven years and serves auction houses in twelve segments from one codebase. That shapes the engineering: most problems are about finding the general case rather than adding another special case, and decisions have to survive a long time.
The other thing that shapes it is the traffic curve. An auction is quiet for six days and then every bidder arrives in the same minute. Writing for that is a genuinely interesting constraint, and it is not one most web work gives you.
The stack
.NET and C# on the server, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure for hosting and scaling, native iOS and Android for the apps, and a REST API surface that both our own front ends and our customers' systems are built against.
Where
Amsterdam, in the A'DAM tower on the north bank of the IJ — a coworking building with a ferry at the door and a view worth the commute.
Applying
We do not always have a formal vacancy posted, and we read open applications properly. If you write .NET well and the problem above sounds interesting, send us something about what you have built. Tell us what you would want to work on rather than listing every framework you have touched.
Write to info@auction-experts.com with "jobs" in the subject line, and we will come back to you.
